Ê Its primary focus is to conduct studies dealing with policies and trends affecting the oil and gas industry, especially with respect to offshore developments.Ê CES is also designated as the Regional Lead Organization for the Central Gulf Region of the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council (CGR PTTC) which serves as an important gateway for the upstream (exploration and production) technology needs of the independent oil and gas operators. CGR PTTC holds approximately six to eight technology workshops each year around the state in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Monroe, New Orleans, and Shreveport.Ê Presentations are made by service companies introducing new technology and by university researchers presenting developing technology.Ê Topics at recent workshops included Stimulation of Watered-out Inactive/Marginal Wells with Dual Completions; Understanding the Oil and Gas Reservoir Using Material Balance; Well Abandonment Methods and Regulations; Productivity & Economic Potential of Inactive/Marginal Wells in Louisiana; Low Cost Oil & Gas Recovery Methods; Cost Effective Horizontal Well Technology; Soil Remediation (Hydrocarbon & Brine); Application of Logging Tools for Improving Reservoir Interpretation; and Drilling Completion Technologies for Deep Shelf Gas.Ê
